Handling of steel plates and packages

with a special gripper

Actual situation for the handling of steel plates and packages at a customer

The customer has to transport steel plates and packages within its value chain. This begins with loading and unloading onto and from the lorry and ends with storage or relocation. During the transport process, up to 3 steel packages with a total load of 7.5 tonnes have to be moved, with the steel packages measuring between 2 m and 4 m in length, between 1 m and 1.6 m in width and between 0.7 and 1 m in height. In addition, all steel plates are very sharp-edged and have no attachment points where the plates could be moved with a sling, for example.

Product solution with a special gripper for steel plates and packs

Handling of steel plates and packages

Due to the different parameters, Carl Stahl developed and manufactured a special gripper in accordance with DIN EN 13155, which can be adjusted in length and width and has a maximum load (load capacity) of 8 tonnes. A special feature of this special grab is that an integrated electric chain hoist from HADEF with a load capacity of 1 tonne can be controlled via the crane hook block and is used to open and close the grab. Carl Stahl has decades of experience in the design and production of customised special load handling attachments. Carl Stahl manufactures its load handling attachments at 4 locations in Germany on an area of around 1,250 square metres. Consistently high quality is ensured by certified processes and trained skilled workers.
The Carl Stahl truss configurator is also recommended for "simple" trusses.

The disadvantage of these lifting devices is that they always harbour a certain safety risk and have to be laboriously attached and removed by hand.
